JOB DESCRIPTION: 

ADVOCACY DIRECTOR 

 

  1. Position Overview: Project GREEN’s Advocacy Director manages the development, marketing, and delivery of systems-facing financial empowerment resources – including policy research and recommendations, and partner development. Additionally, this director works with the Executive Director on the development of the organization’s integrated marketing strategy and tactical implementation of all external activities and communications related to Advocacy programs, events, and activities. 

     

    Reports to: Executive Director 

    Works with: Financial Capabilities Director; Director of Operations; and Administrative & Social Media Coordinator 

     

    Supervises: Interns/Grassroots Financial Advocates (GFAs)

    Work format: Half-time (20-25 hours); in office at least three days per week to begin; conducting workshops as scheduled which will include evenings and weekends.

    Responsibilities include: 

    1. Development and delivery of Project GREEN advocacy initiatives. Advocacy is focused on systemic policies and procedures that impact the financial well-being of the communities that we serve. Current initiatives include Rent Reporting for Credit Building; Child Support for Credit Building; and Payday Loan Story Collection.
    2. Develops relationships with relevant stakeholders. For example, housing agencies, landlords, government agencies, corporations, financial institutions, and other non-profit organizations that serve our audience.
    3. Facilitate individual-facing outreach and workshops to raise awareness on the issues on which we are advocating. 
    4. Schedule, promote and coordinate programs to the public. 
    5. Collect, analyze, and report on program impact data. 
    6. With Executive Director, lead integrated marketing planning process. 
    7. Other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. Skills/experience required: 
      1. Strong advocacy background.
      2. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 
      1. Passion for the organization’s mission and community service. 
      1. Sense of urgency and innate focus on results. 
      1. Strong project management/time management skills. 
      1. Solid leadership skills, able to motivate others to action. 
      1. Comfortable with facilitation, teaching and coaching. 
      1. Advanced office software and internet skills. 

      Compensation

      1. Beginning salary range: $23,920-26,000.
